Hiking on Stara planina leads along paths from Baba's Tooth to Mižor, across open glades and rocky parts, with wide views from the highest points of this mountain massif.
The ascent passes through beech and conifer forests, and then emerges above the tree line, where a view of the entire ridge of Stara Planina opens up. As you approach the top, the space becomes more open, and the vistas become wider and more impressive.
The tour is physically demanding, but without technically complicated parts, so it is suitable for experienced mountaineers who want a more serious ascent and a strong feeling of being on a high mountain.
Not recommended for people with injuries, health restrictions or disabilities, as well as people who have a greater fear of heights
Good hiking shoes are recommended, layered clothing (at higher altitudes wind and weather changes are possible), at least 1.5–2 L of water, a snack.
The terrain is not technically extreme, but the ascent is significant and requires moderate physical fitness.
The tour starts from the mountain lodge 'Babin zub' in the morning. The path to Midžor is about 16 km, the total ascent is 750 m.
